My husband and I have been working feverishly trying to find a home to move into that will accept 3 adults boxers. We have tried apartments, condos, townhouses and duplexes along with 4plexes. To no avail, either no one is willing to accept 3 boxers or the yards are not fenced in for my dogs safety or the square footage is just to small for 2 adults and 3 adult boxers. It truly has not been an easy job. I am so tired of being lied to, rent changing, working with a realtor just to have them give the property away to someone else because they are a stronger renter even though they have yet to see our rental application.
We have been so desperate to find a home willing to accept our 3 dogs that we decided we would look at a home 52 miles away from my husbands job. It is a mobile home on 3.3 acres of land fully fenced in with some otter amenities that don't concern me. The rent was $600 and the deposit was $500 with a $250 pet deposit. I talked to a realtor (Kim MacLay) during the previous few days telling her we were interested in seeing the property but was not sure when my husband would have time off for us to drive down there and see. Happened within a day or two that we had some available time so we call her. She actually told me, I thought you would give me more notice, like a day or two before wanting to see the property. I told her that my husbands schedule for work is variable and that I had told her that when we spoke previous. So we opted to drive down to the home on our own to view the property. Comes down to it that the husband (Brad Maclay) could meet us down there. So we drive 1 hour and 15 minutes out to see this home and find out what we think about it. We get there and explain our situation to the realtor who happens to be friends with the owners of the property. Once we get there and start talking about the home, we then find out that there is no water on the property and it has to be hauled in. Lucky that the previous owners left the trailer and water container to do this so it would not be a big deal, however, we have no way to haul water. Then after they realize it might be a deal breaker they say you can hire someone to haul the water for you. OK, no big deal. Brad also tells us the owner are very eager to rent this property and they are willing to work with us on deposits and anything else. Brad even dropped the 1st months rent from $600 to $400 to help us get in the home. We grab an application and leave. We think about it over the weekend and call Brad on Monday, but they were eating dinner and then he had a meeting but asked to call us back at 730pm. OK, no big deal again. It's after 730 when he finally calls and we discuss more options for the deposits and he says he has to talk to the owners and will call us tomorrow. So tomorrow comes and my husband ends up calling him. My husband said that he was speaking fast and not being real straight and then mentioned that there was another family who put in an application. Brad finally calls me at 530PM and told me that they accepted the other applicant because they are a stronger renter. How the hell can he know they are a stronger renter if they have never seen our application? The whole time talking with Brad, he was always sure to say that our credit was not a big deal, rental history was not a big deal and they were dropping the 1st months rent and willing to work with deposits. Why would you work so diligently with someone just to screw them over like that?
I was probably rather rude with him and told him that if you lead a client on to believe that they have a good possibility of getting a property (rental), that credit, rental and history does not matter, they would be willing to drop the 1st months rent, work with deposits and that the owner is desperate to rent the property just to rent the property to another applicant I hope you fail (husband / wife owners) I told him he wasted my time (spent calling the electric company - first 2 were wrong companies, finding out about the water, cable, phone, internet etc. and what kind of deposits I need) at least 4-5 hours and the gas to drive down there (which happened to be husband gas for work) just to rent it out to someone else and assume that they are a stronger renter then I am before even seeing our application. He told he me hoped I really did not feel that way, and I told him I did! I am so devastated and disappointed and upset over this.
If you plan on using MacLay Real Estate for renting, buying or selling your property I'd think real hard about it.

I have right about 2 weeks to still try to find a house to live that will not only take my dogs but is accomodating to my dogs. I know some of you will say just give your dogs away. Think of it like this when I tell you to give your kids away. That's right, I feel the same way about my dogs. I can't have kids and I have had my dogs up to 8 yrs. I won't give them away. I would rather live in my van then give them away. On top of having 2 weeks to find a place to move and pack, I am sick, sick, sick.
